About Catherine Hawley, CFP®

I founded my personal financial planning practice to serve people seeking help with their financial questions. I saw a need for affordable, objective and customized advice that is frequently sought but often difficult to find. To make my services accessible, I charge an hourly or project fee. Regardless of income level or net worth, I seek to assist individuals and families to continually improve their finances. My aim is to help clients gain clarity and confidence so they can pursue their definition of financial success.

I offer advice on the following subjects:

- Goal setting and life planning

- Budgeting and cash flow

- Student Loans

- Investments

- Retirement

- Employee benefits

- Home ownership and real estate

- Insurance

- Estate planning

- Paying for college

Advice is tailored to your needs. I usually develop ongoing relationships with my clients but also answer one-time questions, give second opinions or perform a financial checkup.

I'm based in Monterey, California but I work with out of area clients remotely. We meet via videoconference, which is not only convenient but also preferred by many clients.

I'm an independent business owner and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Previously, I was a consultant and contributing writer for SaveUp, a free rewards program that encourages healthy financial decisions. I worked at Rhodes & Fletcher, LLC as a Personal Benefits Specialist and at the firms of Bernstein Global Wealth Management and Barclay's Global Investors. As a Financial Planning Association member, I served as the liaison to the City of San Francisco's Smart Money Network. Currently, I'm committing volunteer efforts to Chartwell School for dyslexic children as a member of its board of trustees.

I have a bachelors degree in communication studies from UCLA where I was a scholarship athlete and captain of the women's tennis team. After graduating, I coached tennis in Hong Kong and Northern Ireland. I still play tennis recreationally.

Visit my website to learn more about my approach to financial planning. If you would like to better understand and strengthen your finances please contact me to schedule a personal financial assessment.
