Los Angeles Times, July 12, 2006 - The writer of "Compensation system for many financial advisers weakens their advice on mutual funds" says that in an ideal world, the investor would pay the adviser for the advice, period, and the adviser would recommend any investment based only on what is the best for the client. Unfortunately, such arrangements are still relatively rare, although organizations such as the Garrett Planning Network have financial planner members who follow the practice.
