ABOUT US

Founded in 2000, the Garrett Planning Network has grown into a national network of hundreds of hourly-based, Fee-Only financial planners. We exist to make competent, objective advice accessible to all people. 


Our staff of full-time employees and team of professional coaches and consultants facilitate discussions on our private intranet forums, lead educational webinars for members throughout the month, and host our membership at our Annual Retreat conferences. Through these channels, subject matter experts share best practice ideas in all areas of financial planning practice management, including: operations procedures, technology, marketing, counseling and communications, compliance, productivity, business planning, and financial planning technical matter.


We also provide our member advisors with tools, templates, and software, as well as, eLearning courses and access to hundreds of continuing education events. However, the lifeblood of the Garrett Planning Network is its member advisors. They are an incredibly vibrant, supportive, connected group of professionals of diverse backgrounds who’ve come together for the greater good and well-being of their clients and themselves. Member Guidelines

Fiduciary

All of our members are fiduciaries to their clients, obligated both ethically and legally to place the best interests of their clients ahead of the advisors' interests.

Fee-Only

Garrett members must be Fee-Only, meaning they are prohibited from receiving commissions or any other compensation from anyone else for the sale of a financial product or service. 100% of their compensation is paid directly by their clients.

Accessible

Every Garrett member must be accessible. That means they all charge based on the time to provide advice, without requiring long-term commitments or minimum income, investment, or net worth requirements. While some advisors may offer and provide other Fee-Only services, the majority of their client work must meet this definition of accessible.

Holistic Financial Planning

Most members joining the Network must be either a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional (CFP®) or agree to become certified within five years of their initial Investment Adviser registration. The only alternative credential we allow is for CPAs who have obtained Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation or will within the same five-year period.
